Snorkeling in Cala Pi – Experience the Underwater World Up Close

Under the sparkling surface of Cala Pi lies a world that surprises many visitors: a vibrant underwater ecosystem with an astonishing diversity of species and crystal clear visibility. Snorkeling in Cala Pi is one of the most beautiful nature experiences that Mallorca has to offer – and it awaits right at the doorstep of the villa The Crystal Bay.
The best part: You don’t need any prior knowledge or expensive equipment. A simple snorkel mask is enough to dive into a completely different world – a world full of colors, movement, and fascinating marine life.
What Awaits You Underwater
The underwater world of Cala Pi is unique. The clear water and rocky structures at the edge of the bay provide an ideal habitat for sea bream, wrasse, and parrotfish, for octopuses that masterfully camouflage themselves, for colorful starfish on the sandy bottom, as well as for anemones, crabs, and shrimp in the rock crevices.
The Best Time for Snorkeling
We particularly recommend snorkeling in the morning around 11 a.m. At this time, the sun is already high enough to illuminate the water, and the surface is usually still calm. With fresh winds or waves, visibility is naturally reduced – calm mornings offer the best conditions.
Equipment and Practical Tips
A good snorkel mask with anti-fog protection and swim fins make the experience significantly more enjoyable. Don’t forget to apply waterproof sunscreen – while snorkeling, you can quickly get a sunburn on your back. Please behave considerately: Do not step on rocks, do not touch animals, and do not take anything out of the water.
For the Whole Family
The gently sloping beach makes snorkeling very safe for children and beginners. There is much to discover even in shallow water. If you want more, we recommend a guided diving trip with the local diving school.
